SERVICES: HISTORY: The Gdansk airport is a 1910 military airport transformed into a civilian one after World War I. It became an internationally recognized airport in the 1920s. It had direct air connections with Warsaw, Szczecin, Bydgoszcz, Krakow, Wroclaw, Katowice i Rzeszow until 1974. In the meantime, international flights were initiated. Faced with a great demand for air transportation, the authorities decided to build another airport in Rebiechowo, which started operating in 1974. Today the Lech Walesa Airport in Gdansk is an element of the European logistics.
