Chrzypsko Wielkie

A large village situated in the Wielkopolska Province, Chrzypsko Wielkie is predominantly a holiday destination. A lake, an abundance of forests and several historical sights await exploration in Chrzypsko.

The area surrounding Chrzypsko is mostly forested, making it an ideal place to hike and cycle, while riding on horseback is another popular activity. To protect the woods and wildlife, the Sierakowski Landscape Park was established here. Visitors of Chrzypsko Wielkie can take advantage of the lake situated nearby, which is a real paradise for anglers, with an abundance of breams, whitefish, eel and pike. But remember to be careful – as the local legend says, under the waters of the lake there is a flooded town after being cursed by an old lady who was treated impolitely by one of the merchants

There are a few interesting places to visit in Chrzypsko. Among its historical sights is the church of St Adalbert, built in the Gothic style. The palace of Wilhelm Kothe was built at the beginning of the 20th century and retains its neo-Classical façade.

There are also some really good places in the vicinity of Chrzypsko, such as the town of Sierakow with its wonderful Bernardine church, castle and the unmissable historical horse stud. There are also several beautiful palaces in the neighbourhood of Chrzypsko such as the ones in Kobylniki, Wroblewo and Nowa Wies.

GEOGRAFIA

Chrzypsko Wielkie is situated in the Greater Poland Province, west of Poznan. The area is very attractive thanks to the nearby Chrzypskie Lake. The local region is protected as a landscape park, while further to the north there is the Notecka Primeval Forest, a picturesque and wild region.

Firstly mentioned in 1393, Chrzypsko Wielkie is probably one of the oldest settlements in this region. The name of the village underwent a few alternations. Although in the Middle Ages there were no trade routes passing near, it developed quickly as a result of the Polish wars with the Teutonic Order, which increased the demand for various objects that could be produced by the local craftsmen.
