POLOHA A POPIS HOTELU
Halfway between the giant wooden pier and the Sopot railway station, Monte Cassino sits along the tourist-flooded main pedestrian promenade which it is named after. Despite its enviable location, occupying the second floor of a four-storey, pale-almond pre-war tenement house, the place may takes some time to find as there's only a small nameplate above the intercom signalling the entrance. A well-known cafe and ice-cream parlour sits on the street level, while dozens of restaurants, galleries, shops nearby that all add to the thriving nightlife.
The old-meets-new decor and the in-the-middle-of-it-all setting of this bolthole appeals to day-trippers as well as independent holidaymakers who want to absorb Sopot's seaside ambiance. To reach reception space and handful of rooms, one has to climb stairs, as there is no lift, and then go through stained-glass doors decorated with the city's coat of arms. Rooms decor reflects the "soul and taste of Sopot eclecticism", which means warm hues and upholstered furnishings mingle with modern gadgetry in the form of safe-boxes, refrigerators, cable television with on LCD screens, DVD players, Wi-Fi Internet access and air-conditioning. The reception offers films on DVD and PlayStation games, prepares hot beverages, sends faxes, supplies newspapers and generally helps out with business-related services.
