HOTEL LOCATION & DESCRIPTION
Right in the thick of Gdansk's historic district, Krolewski Hotel rests serenely on the banks of the Motlawa River on the Island of Olowianka. It counts the Fryderyk Chopin Baltic Philharmonic Hall and the Maritime Museum with the giant anchored Soldek ship amongst its neighbours. The 15th-century wooden crane on the other side of the river takes about 15 minutes to reach on foot, but a small ferry regularly shuttles people across the waterway in the summer season.
Set in an reconstructed 17th-century royal granary, this six-storey property channels a classic-meets-modern aesthetic and refreshing anything-you-want attitude. The slightly narrow foundations mean that the lobby and restaurant are a little cramped, and the bathrooms with showers and windows are also small. However, the rooms themselves are high and spacious, with wooden floors and sailing maps as decorations. All rooms are equipped with cable TV, minibars, anti-allergic bedding and Wi-Fi Internet access. The Admiral suites, often used for corporate events, always impress with their size and furnishing. The terrace and windows of the restaurant look out straight onto the water, providing scenic views and a breezy ambiance in which to enjoy European dishes and hearty Sunday brunch.
