Located inside the historical centre of Oliwa, Stara Karczma (Old Inn) sits on the side of a busy street that gives easy access to the Tri-City's ring road. It consists of two sections, one streetside three-storey structure that was the horses stable back in the 17th century and brick-built addition in the courtyard. The rapid transit train (SKM) station, tram and bus lines are a 10 minute stroll of the property, which makes reaching any part of the Tri-city or airport fast and hassle free. Nearby, there are numerous small shops and various services, and in the same building there is a bank, pastry shop and Mexican restaurant, where hotel guests receive a discount. Also in the proximity is the Oliwa Cathedral, the Tri-city Landscape Beauty Park and the Zoo.
Blending a small town setting, century-old architectural features with contemporary interiors and a sense of metropolitan proximity, Stara Karczma is an intimate and welcoming place to stay for a weekend retreat or longer holidays. Up a flight of stairs in the main building, the style of the mid-sized guestrooms cleverly mixes old and new: curvy iron backrests may be opposite plasma screen TVs or original wooden beams juxtaposed against contemporary watercolours, which are all for sale. Rooms in the courtyard structure have a more subdued style, but all come equipped with shiny bathrooms and high-speed Internet access. There are refrigerators, coffee and tea making sets, LCD screens in the three studios, of which two boast kitchenettes, and one has a beautiful terrace. The compact 20-seater dining room doubles as a meeting space on request.
