The Batory-Bis is the little brother to the next door Hotel Batory and is about a 10 to 15 minute stroll from the main medieval market square. The historic Jewish area of Kazimierz is about 15 minutes walk away. Just opposite the guest rooms is Hala Tagowa, a traditional bustling Polish flea market and further on down the street is the city's indoor ice-skating rink. The main bus and train terminals should take about five minutes in a cab. Guests may hear the odd wail from the neigbouring ambulance station, but they flick their sirens off at night.
Batory-Bis offers no-nonsense light and airy furnished rooms, the biggest of which can sleep up to seven guests. All have laminated floors, pine furniture and good-sized, basic bathrooms with a shower and hairdryer. In larger rooms, beds are a mixture of bunks and singles. Giant, colourful canvases brighten up the light-toned walls. There are a couple of apartments available with two rooms, one of which has a cosy lounge area. Although there's no Internet access, guests can use the PC in the next door Hotel Batory, where breakfast is also served. Note, there is no lift in this two-storey block. Batrory-Bis would make an excellent choice for small groups of friends, or travellers who are watching their zloties.
