HOTEL LOCATION & DESCRIPTION
Decameron is tucked away on a quiet side street just a few minutes walk from the medieval city square. Guests can easily walk to Wawel Castle, about 20 minutes, and Kazimierz, in about 25 and around the corner from the apartments is a bustling Polish street market. There's no sign outside the building for the apartments, so look for the blue sign above the metal brown door that says 'Poligrafia'.
Staying in this 19th century Cracovian pile is like taking a step back in time. All the bedrooms in the six apartments are exquisitely furnished with Emperor sized Baroque Italianate furniture. Plus they feature tapestries, bejewelled chandeliers, polished parquet floorboards and reassuringly sturdy beds with dark wood carved bedsteads. A couple of apartments in vibrant purples and pinks have a more contemporary feel. All bathrooms and kitchens come equipped with a definite 21st century twang with state of the art fittings. There's no lift, but it's far more atmospheric to creep up the staircase at night in this meticulously restored apartment house gem.
