HOTEL LOCATION & DESCRIPTION
The Ostoya Palace Hotel is on a main road leading away from the old city, with its many attractions including the medieval market square and Wawel Castle. Opposite the hotel is a Soviet-inspired monument dedicated to Polish forces who fought in the world wars. In the opposite direction to the main square is another Commie icon - the bombastic National Museum. The main bus and train stations are about a five to ten minute cab ride away.
Built in 1895, the Ostoya Palace Hotel offers guests 23 rooms and a suite that evoke the hotel's old-world charm. They come either as standard or deluxe and both categories are lovely with spot on furnishings. Deluxe rooms on the first floor rooms have polished parquet flooring, high ceilings and are adorned with oil paintings. Standard second floor rooms are carpeted and have slightly lower ceilings with wooden beamed columns. All have mini-bar, desks and chairs, safe deposit and stylish, sleek bathrooms. Rooms dubbed single could easily sleep two. On top of all that there's a classical 19th century period restaurant, a family room with bags of toys for kiddies, conference facilities, mini sauna and a boho bar in the basement.
This hotel has been visited by our reviewer in January 2010.
