HOTEL LOCATION & DESCRIPTION
Wawel's location combines the best of both worlds. It's in a spot right between the castle and the main square but on a side street safely tucked away from any noisy night time revellers. Kazimierz, the city's historic Jewish area, lies just beyond the castle and is about a 20 minute saunter away. The main bus and train terminals will take about five minutes in a cab.
Wawel occupies a building dating from the 15th century, rebuilt in 1850 in a neo-classical style. Standard spaces feature flat screen TVs, safe, large desks, fridges in a few and furnishings with a distinctive Grecian design. Modern bathrooms come with a shower only. Hallways are enlivened with panoramic scenes of the city and a potted history in the staircase charts the building's history. A wellness centre on the ground floor offers a seductive spot for first-class pampering, with inlaid mosaic jacuzzi, steam bath and sauna. There are also two dining areas serving up taste-bud tantalizing grilled meat dishes and Polish staples. Wawel's an ideal choice for anyone after a romantic get-away.
