HOTEL LOCATION & DESCRIPTION
Moored on the western bank of the Vistula River throughout the warm-weather season (meaning late March to early November), Aldona River Hostel and it's sister facility Anita welcomes backpackers and budget-conscious holiday-makers on deck. This floating accommodation is just 15 minutes on foot from Nowy Swiat street and the historical Old Town area. All the tram and bus lines across Poniatowski Bridge, that under which it is harboured, allow easy access to the train station and various landmarks further afield.
Joined at their tale ends by a narrow walkway, this double-decker botel (or more adequately bostel) is ideal for those who enjoy staying somewhere a little out of the ordinary. Cabins are compact and cosy, boasting no more than solid wood beds, small tables and fabrics in bright yellow tones. Shared bathrooms and kitchen facilities are equally confined but there's constant supply of coffee and tea to keep guests caffeinated. For some relaxing and dining, guests can stock up on drinks and small snacks at the maritime-themed reception and savour an alfresco dinner at sunset.
This hotel has been visited by our reviewer in September 2010.
