HOTEL LOCATION & DESCRIPTION
The historic building Turówka Hotel & SPA **** - official residence center of the Italian federation at UEFA EURO 2012 - is located in the vicinity of the Wieliczka Salt Mine, one of the main attractions of this part of Poland, opposite Park Mickiewicza. It takes about ten minutes to walk to the town's main bus and train stations. From these points it will take around half an hour by rail or 45 minutes by bus 304 to reach Krakow's city centre.
It's hard to believe that Turowka was originally built in 1812 as a processing plant for the mine's salt, as a superb renovation in 2006 has given it a stately hunting lodge feel. Most rooms are standard class with a few higher category spaces available. All are elegantly assembled with rich green or red furnishings, oil paintings and dark-panelled carved fittings. Some on the first floor come with a balcony. Below stairs is the hotel's sauna and spa featuring a range of high-tech treatments, swimming pool and an atmospheric salt cave complete with stalactites. Bars, a gem of a restaurant with summer grill and conference facilities makes Turowka the premier spot in this salt saturated town.
This hotel has been visited by our reviewer in March 2010.
