The Gazdowka Chalets are situated about a 25 minute walk from the centre of Zakopane along a country road. Look out for the sign on the left if coming from the main centre. Continuing further along the road from the city centre will lead to Strazyska Valley, a popular location for hiking.
Gazdowska Chalets are more akin to a Brothers Grimm theme park than a collection of holiday homes. Guests can choose between rooms in the main hotel or a cute little woodsman's cottage in the grounds. These have a real spooky feel about them with their twisted timber staircases and log furniture. All have kitchens and the shower rooms are modern and wood free. Pine clad hotel rooms sport antler decor, animalskin rugs, wooden benches and highlander pictures. All have fridges and kettles and a couple of cosy doubles are sandwiched under the sharp sloping rafters. The restaurant, which serves up hearty Polish fare, is stuffed with furry friends including birds in flight plus a wacky collection of cow bells. A magical setting to experience a romanticized take on Highlander life.
