Giewont occupies the busy corner of Krupowki and Kosciuszki Street, neighbouring a bank, post office, grocery market and department store. Simply step outside the hotel and you will find yourself in the shops and restaurants of Krupowki. On the ground floor, the hotel houses a fast food chain restaurant and a travel agency. Giewont is close to the Tatra Mountain Museum, the historical cemetery of Peksowy Brzyzek, and the Gubalowka funicular railway. It is about one kilometre to the railway and inter-city bus stations, but the minibus stops are close. The quieter rooms are those with a backyard view.
The solid, grey building of the Orbis-managed Giewont is covered with shingles and finished off with boulders, in tune with local tradition. Over the past few decades, it has become perfectly integrated with downtown Zakopane. Previously often visited by prominent personalities, nowadays it needs some renovation. The rooms seem closer to the standards of the past than the present. Giewont offers high single and double rooms, as well as standard and larger superior rooms. Like other hotels in the mountains, thermometers and wood are must here; but contrary to the humble highlander style, Giewont’s furniture is comfortable and classical. The rooms are equipped with Orbis style of furniture, finished off with a light veneer, satellite TV, telephones, mini-bars, kettles, Internet, and bathrooms with hairdryers. Wallpapers are white, and upper floors have smaller windows. Undoubtedly, the Viennese style restaurant with its beautiful ceramic chandeliers, wooden cassette ceilings, mezzanine, parquet floor and a piano that is played in the high season adds to the grand air of impressive past high society.
