The hotel is in the city centre, and although it is located in front of the railway station, it manages to remain aloof and shares nothing one might associate with hotels in such a location. The pedestrianised Sienkiewicza Street conveniently starts outside the hotel, and it is only a few steps further to the city’s most important institutions and cultural attractions. The rooms have an outlook over the square near the station, the neighbouring streets, or the new conference centre. This part of the town is always busy, with lots of people and excitement.
This four-storey hotel from the 1970s has been thoroughly modernised, its elevation having a monumental character, with Greek columns and a tympanum, while the interiors are now very Art Nouveau in style. This is the biggest hotel in town, featuring spacious single and double rooms, as well as suites in three wings, each with green, brown and beige decors. All rooms have bathrooms with showers, mini-bars, and Canal+ satellite TV, while some rooms have Internet access. The air-conditioned Victoria restaurant is on the ground floor and is very inviting. There is a lobby bar with a collection of autographs of the stars who have visited the hotel. Newspapers are available in the lobby, free of charge. Recommended is the Green Passage with its exclusive shops and Sallambier hairstylist. The hotel has three air-conditioned conference rooms, and the big new regional conference centre will be open by July 2008, with a new casino in the following months.
