The Monopol is located on one of the oldest streets in the city and is just a stone's throw from the main bus and railway terminals. A few minutes walk from the hotel is the Ateneum Theatre and the Spodek conference centre. The turn of the century hotel building is one of the grandest in the city with elaborate stone carvings and corner balconies.
A faithful restoration of the Monopol in 2003 has blended old world charm and elegance with all the ultra modern touches expected for a five star pad. Rooms, suites and apartments are generously proportioned and boast parquet flooring with cow hide rugs, art deco styled furnishings and spacious desks. Please note that due to the reconstruction of the railway station in Katowice there are changes in road traffic. These changes apply also to the access route to the MONOPOL hotel. From Katowice Airport and Warsaw: Take S86 Expressway (Aleja Murckowska), direction Tychy and Bielsko Biala and after 700m turn right to A4 motorway, direction Wroclaw (Aleja Gornoslaska). After 500m turn right again to Francuska street (exit Brynow, Muchowiec), continue for 300m to reach the road junction with Mariacka Tylna street and turn left. Continue straight on until you see the Monopol hotel on the right side.
