Driving west on the 92 motorway from Poznan, travellers can easily pick out Hotel 500, a low-slung and labyrinthine complex in the tiny town of Tarnowo Podgórne. Passed a gas station and a long-haul truck parking, the entrance gives way to a red brick-clad facade with yellow side wings and a sizable summer garden with a pond out back. If driving is not an option, the bus journey to downtown Poznan with take approximately 35-50 minutes depending on traffic.
Though no design marvel, Hotel 500 is a massive mid-rise property offering a decent blend of business and leisure facilitates with 170 rooms, a restaurant serving regional and international treats, steam sauna, billiard and a landscaped garden for weddings or summer corporate parties. The decor is functional but uninspiring, with rooms kitted with wooden desks and wardrobes, fabric-covered beds and bathrooms boasting shower/tub combos. Each comes equipped with satellite TV, Wi-Fi Internet access and some even have small fridges. For meetings and conferences there's over 837 square metres of space to play with.
