Goralski Dwor is easily visible from a distance, but can be difficult to find as one gets closer. Most guests arrive from the centre of Koscielisko, heading from the church towards Zakopane, and then turning left into steep and narrow Salamandra Street, which also leads to a military holiday centre. There is a minibus stop a 100 metres from Goralski, and one can get to the centre of Zakopane within twenty minutes from there. It is 300 metres to the nearest ski lift. Goralski’s location on a slope below Gubalowka ridge and above Koscielisko assures an incomparable view of the Tatra Mountains and silence. Through the windows you can see meadows, the stony driveway, and other nearby guesthouses. Podhale shepherd dogs and animals kept by a neighbouring vet are an additional attraction of the place.
Guests are often mistaken when they regard Goralski, built in 2001, as just a private highlander’s house. The building is a unique project created by a passionate owner, an architect, who has treated highlander culture as the starting point for the design. Ideally integrated into the local landscape and architecture, made of timber and stone, Goralski has excellently worked out details and unusual colour selections. Niches have been used in an innovative way, being home to old-looking beds and shelves. Mirrors surprise one on the ceiling, where they pretend to be windows. There is a library inside the inn; bread is baked nearby, hefty stools stand alongside the bar, and round doors let you in or out. The rooms and studios are designed to suit up to four people, have bathrooms with showers, satellite TV and wireless Internet access.
