LOCALISATION ET DESCRIPTION DE L'HOTEL
Sabala is situated next to the Krupowki promenade. There are sport shops and a drugstore on the ground floor, on the promenade side, while above them is the terrace of the Sabala restaurant. Car access to the hotel is possible from the rear, where the reception is located, at the end of Zborowskiego Street. Cars can be left on the small, locked, monitored and paid hotel car park, which is of importance while in Zakopane’s city centre. The hotel is close to the attractions in Zakopane’s centre, such as shops and cafes, the market place, churches, Tatra Mountains Museum, the Gubalowka funicular railway, horse-drawn cab stop, and sledges in winter. Some guests have a window view of Krupowki. The mountains can be seen from the third floor.
The hotel is in a highlanders’ house built in 1897. The building was renovated in 2003 and retains, however, its hundred year old plus beams. Another building has since been added, connected with the first one via the terrace. Local tradition was respected in the process, although a surprise is the transparent restaurant wall, reminiscent of a conservatory, and the modern indoor swimming pool on the second floor with its terrace and Giewont view, sauna and solarium. Each of the asymmetric, high, single and double rooms as well as studios is different, but all are equipped with especially ordered, light, unpainted pinewood furniture, wooden stools with cut-out hearts, bathrooms with showers, wall lamps looking like oil lamps, TV and radio, telephones, and have free access to high-speed internet. Hotel guests are granted a discount in the restaurant, which stays open until midnight and is decorated with a mill wheel and fireplaces. Polish and international dishes are served, and highlander music is played live six days a week. Sabala himself used to play violin in an inn called Staszeczkowka, formerly located there. The wall painting in the lobby, looking like wooden relief, commemorates him, and the violin is the hotel’s logo.
