If you are looking for something not quite in the heart of the city, but still within walking distance of Piotrkowska Street and the Galeria shopping mall, then this could be the best choice. It neighbours the HollyLodz filmmaking complex and the TOYA cable TV offices, and one can therefore see many artistes and business people as guests or just visiting. If you need somewhere to unwind, then next to the hotel is the Prince Poniatowski Park.
The hotel is located relatively close to the inner ring road, and less than 1 km from the Lodz Kaliska railway station. As one arrives, it is almost as if you were entering a 19th-century factory, which it once was before it was transformed into a modern hotel. Once inside your impression may change, it is not a factory but an art gallery, perhaps, one featuring a restaurant and a cafe? You will discover the island that is the bar, open around the clock, and, yes, the hotel reception too. From the free sauna you need to climb the round century-old iron stairs to reach the relaxation room in the former factory’s water tower. Focus always impresses, being so different from other hotels. Here old tradition and thick walls are combined with modern design, soft soul music in the lobby, and Internet available everywhere for free. This is probably the only hotel that invites you to pack your buffet breakfast sandwiches "for later", and offers free coffee and tea, as well as drinking water from machines, and newspapers in the lobby 24 hours a day. Even quite grown-up children, up to 18 years old, are accommodated free if accompanying adults. The ceilings are high and, importantly for all tall people, especially members of basketball and volleyball teams, some rooms have extra long beds! Views are typical for Lodz, over the surviving remains of a hundred years of textile factories and workers housing.
