The Belvedere is situated on the edge of town, near the forest. A quarter of an hour’s walk along the Pod Reglami path takes one to Bialego Valley. From the windows, there is a view of the surrounding villas and their gardens, the hotel garden, and an inn. Some rooms have a view or doors onto the grassy patio with its fountain. There is also an exceptional view of the Tatra Mountains, Gubalowka Hill and the ski-jump from Hillary’s Terrace. It takes no more than twenty minutes to walk downtown, and half an hour to the Gubalowka funicular railway.
Belvedere is big and modern, with well-developed conference, recreation and catering services. Its older part still maintains an air of the pre-war holiday centre it once was, as well as the post-war miners’ resort, when it was known as Za Cieszynianka. Its architecture has highlander features and the interior is decorated with mock Art Nouveau chandeliers and canopies, galleries, attic windows and timber beams. Single and double rooms are available as well as suites and studios, with magnetic locks and three kinds of stylish furniture, equipped with satellite and pay TV, mini-bars, safe-boxes, wireless Internet, and bathrooms with heated floors. There are three air-conditioned restaurants in the hotel: exquisite Ziemianska on the covered patio, Pod Aniolem next to the terrace with its regional cuisine and collection of angels, and Wieniawy where breakfast is served. You are invited to the U-boot Club with its bowling and the golf simulator. Next door is an indoor swimming pool with a slide, children’s pool, and decorative ship ropes, all part of the Marine Institute of Health and Beauty, and visible from lobby cocktail bar. At your disposal are three kinds of sauna and a fitness room, as well as billiards, squash, and sport equipment rental. The library is the venue for VIP meetings, including of state presidents. The hotel can arrange for baby sitters and children’s entertainers too.
