Lying within the shadow of the Tatra mountains is the Crocus, one of Zakopane's newest luxury hotels. It's about a 20 minute walk from the main high street, bus and train stations and a short bus ride from the craggy foothills of Mount Giewont, where a trip to the top will take around two to three hours. The city's biggest ski jump, the Wielka Krokiew, can also be easily reached from Crocus.
A mega glistening white and brick alpine style frontage greets guests pulling up to the Crocus. Inside the reception has been lavishly kitted out with a mottled glass sculpture, leather armchairs and open-plan bar and restaurant. Sleeping spaces come in an assortment of different luxurious levels, from standard to suites. It's space you pay extra for, as all rooms have a matching colour scheme, creamy white with flashes of gold, plus mini-bars, safes and sleek bathrooms with heated floors. Rooms on the top floor are slighty smaller and have sloping ceilings. Most rooms have their own balconies and the Tatra mountains can be glimpsed from many. The hotel's spa suite includes a swimming pool, jacuzzi, mini-gym and sauna all in the price - just the antidote after a trek through the Tatras.
