Situated in the city of Chorzow (approximately 5 kilometers from Katowice city center), the Arsenal Hotel is within easy reach of one of Poland's largest parks, the Silesian Park of Culture and Recreation, which even boasts its own zoo. Chorzow also has a well stocked, if underwhelming, high street with a few good bars and restaurants. Katowice can be reached in around seven minutes by car or bus and Krakow in around an hour.
The owners of the Arsenal Palace, which opened in early 2010, have gone to impressive lengths to give this city a hotel to be proud of - and it's hard to see why they didn't get a fifth star. Rooms and suites have understated elegance with polished maghoney bedsteads, leather couches, sleek modern bathrooms, and a variety of colour schemes. Top spaces boast jacuzzi tubs and air-con and all have mini bars and plasma TVs. Running through the hotel is a Napoleonic military theme, with authentic armory and evocative prints of military might on display. The aptly named Bonaparte Restaurant is a top-notch place to wine and dine, after a spot of bliss in the Greco-Roman inspired pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Conference and function facilities are first-class with the largest space for up to 762 guests.
