Lesniczowka U Zieby is situated at the entrance to Chocholowska Valley, 50 m away from the Zakopane-Chocholow road. There is a direction arrow showing you where to turn, and then you must enter the first yard on your right. Lesniczowka is an ideal starting point for valley walks, a visit to Chocholow and Slovakia which is 1.5 km distant. Minibuses take 20 minutes to get to Zakopane, 16 km away. From the windows, you can see a stream, forest, meadows, the side road, and the yard.
U Zieby rooms are unique, as arranged inside the real forester’s house with a yard and stable, built in 1992 to replace the former ones after they burnt down. The hosts are the Zieba family (which means “finch” in Polish) and there are birds in the hotel’s logo. Typically for a forester’s house, there are many horns and skins of wild animals on the walls. In this highlander interior, you will find almost nothing of plastic. The furniture was made to order in the vicinity and the floor and attic beams are all of wood. The rather compact doubles and quadruples have white bedding, needlework cushions, and standard mattresses. You may be surprised, however, to see the Iranian tapestries and bedcovers. The rooms are equipped with bathrooms with showers, satellite TV and telephones. You can access the wireless Internet throughout the whole building. In the restaurant, everyone admires the menu shaped as a bird, with inventive letters and dish names, as well as the paintings and drawings by local artists and the costumes hanging under the ceiling. On the other side of the yard, thirsty foresters, mountain rescuers, and backpackers meet in the bar there. In the well-kept garden, there is a place for a fire and a dance floor.
