Willa Orla is located 1 km from Krupowki, in the oldest part of Zakopane, surrounded by old, wooden highlanders’ houses with small gardens of the same age. Koscieliska Street runs next to the entrance, which is decorated with a huge covered wooden gateway. Two other streets limit the property, one of them leading towards the bridge over Cicha Woda stream, and further to the Szymaszkowa swimming pools and the ski lifts. The other one is known for the popular inn there, where live highlanders’ music is played. From the windows, you can see a well-kept garden with paths of gravel, and a free and monitored car park, the low neighbouring houses, and partly the mountains, too.
The house was built in 1864 in the highlander style. In accordance with its name, you can admire the collection of eagle images and statues, as well as old clocks and tubas. A gallery is housed in the veranda. The owners actively participate in the cultural life of Podhale; they can even organise “robbery by mountain bandits” at your request, in the same way as they offer to do your laundry for a fee. Locally made socks, sweaters, caps, and gloves of wool “dry out” over the reception counter. Rooms and studios for 1-4 persons, including two-storey ones with a mezzanine, are equipped with satellite TV, radio, and Internet access (some). The rooms have varied decor, as the villa used to be managed by the PZU state insurance company and FWP employees fund in the past, and there is an “inherited” old inventory. Wooden beds of Swarzedz stand next to blue walls, the modern wooden panels of the dining room try to match with the highlanders’ stools. The modern bathrooms have wooden ceilings. The hundred year old antiques, lights like oil lamps, swinging armchairs, and old floorboards add charm to this mixture. The sunbathing terrace with deckchairs offers a mountain panorama. You can play billiards for a fee, and table tennis at no charge.
