INTERNATIONAL CALLS:
To call abroad from Poland, dial 00 (the international access code), then the country code and then the telephone number. To call Poland from abroad, dial the international access code 00, then the country code 48, and the relevant city code minus the initial 0. (To call our office in Warsaw, call: 0048 22 3799161). In the US you generally need to dial "1" before calling Europe. To call a Polish mobile phone from abroad dial 00 48, and then the mobile phone number without the initial 0.
NATIONAL LONG-DISTANCE CALLS:
If you call long-distance in Poland, you have to dial the city code and then the telephone number. For example to call our Warsaw office from Krakow or anywhere in Poland, you must dial: 0 22 3799161.
LOCAL CALLS:
This is very simple: you just need to dial the city code with the initial 0 (to call Warsaw 022) and seven figure number. To call any Polish mobile phone, dial the 10-digit number. All mobiles begin with 05, 06 or 08. In Polish cities there are many phone boxes. To make a phone call you need a telephone card that is available at kiosks and post offices. The cost depends on the number of units (there are cards of 25, 50, 100 units).
USING YOUR FOREIGN MOBILE:
When you want to use your own mobile and roaming services you can choose among three Polish operators: Era, Plus and Orange. It is quite easy to get a Polish SIM card, and if you stay longer this will help you to save money. When making local and national calls dial the country code +48, then the local code (Warsaw, for example, is 22) and then the number. To call our office in Warsaw from your mobile, dial +48 22 8274810. When calling Polish mobiles, dial +48 and then the number without initial 0.
DISCOUNTS:
There are several ways to get a special telephone PIN card with which you can make very cheap calls (usually 20-80% cheaper) both to Polish mobile operators and abroad. Most of them cooperate with Polish Telecom, so you are likely to pay for local call + what is deducted from your credit on the card you purchase. They can help you save a lot.
