Gryf is located at the historical Main Gate of the Gdansk Shipyard and Solidarity Square; within one tram stop of Gdansk’s main railway station and 20 minutes walk from the Old Town's attractions. The building once functioned as the medical centre of the shipyard, which is still obvious from the outside, but the interiors have been stylishly redone for the opening of the hotel in 2006.
The unassuming and lacklustre exterior may not be inviting, but it gives way to surprisingly stylish and smart lobby fitted with white couches, a circular reception and some plants. Rooms, up a flight of carpeted concrete stairs, are painted in warm pastel colours and boast functional furniture, satellite TVs and clean shower-only bathrooms. From the large windows there is a view of the docks, the monument to the Fallen Shipyard Workers and old houses. On the lobby level, guests have access to a small breakfast rooms with a terrace facing the shipyard side, a coffee machine and complimentary Wi-Fi Internet connection.
