The Hotel Batory is located mid-way between the main medieval market square and the Jewish area of Kazimierz. Both are about a 10 to 15 minute stroll away. Just opposite it is Hala Tagowa, a traditional bustling Polish flea market and further on down the street is the city's indoor ice-skating rink. The main bus and train terminals should take about five minutes in a cab. There's an ambulance station nearby but sirens aren't allowed at night time.
The Batory was immaculately refurbished in early 2010 and a fine job has been done. Its rooms are decorated in a cream country cottage style, with antique style furniture, hessian carpets and in shades of either purple or light green. Colourful matching drapes and bedspreads add the finishing touches. All have flat screen TV, Wi-fi Internet and safe. Bathrooms are elegantly decked out with shower cabin and some have cute mini cupids hidden within. The owners have gone to great lengths to furnish the hotel with fragments of classical brickwork and furnishings that add to the refined, graceful charm of the Batory. A restaurant and bar plus flexible conference spaces make the Batory a great choice for business travellers, romantics, or anyone looking for a touch of old-world charm.
