МЕСТОНАХОЖДЕНИЯ И ХАРАКТЕРИСТИКА ГОСТИНИЦЫ
The Polonia dominates a corner of the old town just opposite the main railway terminal and facing the Planty - the green belt that runs around the historic centre. The main market square is only a few minutes saunter away and Matejki Square, site of Independence Day gatherings, is just around the corner. Rooms at the front may experience some tram noise.
The Polonia is a Krakow institution having first opened its doors in 1917 and it's been going strong ever since. Enter the hotel and step back into yesteryear with its elegant lobby area with marble walls inlaid with mirrors, chequered tiled floors and Art Deco stained glass windows. A lovely old touch are the 1950s black chrome telephones in the hallway - yes they still work. Rooms are carpeted and are fashioned in an old-style with window drapes and heavy furniture. Bathrooms have been recently remodernised and flat screen TVs are starting to make an appearance. Corner suites echo the hotel's history with columns, parquet flooring, vases, statuettes and classical coving. For anyone after a taste of Krakow's past, the Polonia should suit very nicely.
