The hotel is situated in the heart of Zakopane, at the junction of Krupowki and Kosciuszki Streets, next to the pedestrian zone. On the ground floor, there is a chain restaurant and a travel agency, while separate entrances lead to a bank and a photographic shop. Gromada Gazda is close to shops, restaurants with highlander music, bus stops, horse-driven cabs, and sledges in the winter. The Gubalowka funicular railway and the Tatra Mountains Museum are nearby. From the morning until late, the market nearby is busy with stallholders bustling around and noisy crowds of people looking to buy. From the hotel windows there is a view onto the streets, the restaurant terrace, post office, hotel yard, and from higher floors you can see the mountains, too.
Originating from the 1970s, the slightly worn Gromada Gazda continues the tradition of the 70 year old Gromada travel company, its owner. A concrete, broken figure of ‘gazda’, a highland farmer with sheep, stands forgotten near the streamside. Three lines of windows divide this corner-located, simple cuboid building with a flat roof, quite exceptional in mountainous conditions. Decorative in the past, the wooden panels have been bleached by many summer suns. Outside and inside the hotel, there are several decorative pieces of metal art with highlander motives, in a fashion of decades ago. Behind white doors await numerous modest but renovated and comfortable doubles with showers, bright wooden furniture, desks with mirrors and pastel bedding. There is also satellite TVs, radios, telephones in every room and fridges in some rooms. There are large single rooms with bathtubs located at the rear of the hotel.
