Nestled at the foot of the Tatra Mountains, 100 kilometres south of Krakow, Zakopane is the winter sports capital of Poland and the cradle of tourism in Poland. During the winter, Zakopane is excellent for skiing and in the summer season a lot of people visit it to hike or just relax at the foot of the Tatra Mountains.
After arriving in Zakopane, the tour starts with a ride up the funicular railway to the top of Mt. Gubalowka where you have a marvellous view of the Tatra range. After a stroll around the summit, we return down to visit the historical part of Zakopane with its old highlander cottages, surrounded by ash trees and blackened by the sun. These wooden houses and churches were built in the Zakopane style by the famous Polish artist, Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz. You will visit also the famous cemetery in Peksowy Brzyzek and the wooden chapel in Jaszczurowka.
To ensure that you savour the Zakopane atmosphere and its local colour, we will take a stroll along Krupowki Boulevard, the central area full of local shops, restaurants, tea houses, cafes, and boutiques. Later you can either visit the Tatra Museum or the old wooden village of Chocholow – which looks like an open-air museum.
You can choose from two options – either an organized coach tour or a private limousine excursion. If you prefer to stay in Zakopane overnight, please contact us to get quotes on hotel or guesthouse accommodation.
