Tryszczyn

Tryszczyn is a small village located approximately 13 km from Bydgoszcz. Its beautiful neighbourhood and a tranquil atmosphere make the village a perfect destination for a relaxing holiday.

 

Tryszczyn TOURISM

Tryszczyn is a typical tourist resort with numerous cottage houses. There are two tourist trails running through the village: 16 km long black trail (Bydgoszcz – Piaski – bridge on the Brda river – a spa in Smukala – Tryszczyn) and 32 km long red trail (Bydgoszcz Fordon –Osielsko – Bydgoszcz Oplawiec – Goscieradz).
There are not many monuments in Tryszczyn. However, worthy a visit are the Order of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mount Carmel monastery and Forest Division Zoledowo.

 

GEOGRAPHY

Tryszczyn is a village in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, in Bydgoszcz county, by the trunk road no. 25. In the village there are a 90-hectare lake and run-of-the-river hydroelectricity of 3,3 megawatts capacity.

 

HISTORY

There are not many records about Tryszczyn. However, it is known as a place of mass executions performed by the Nazis in the first two months of the Second World War. In September and October 1939, as a result of Operation Intelligenzaktion, there were 900 Poles and Jews (mostly Bydgoszcz inhabitants) shot by the Brda river. Executions near Tryszczyn were also performed in the successive years of war.
