If you are not satisfied with visiting the mountains and experiencing them only from comfortable observation points, then Lake Morskie Oko is one of the top goals for you or any traveller. The poetical name means “the eye of the sea” and it rightly befits this marvellous lake. Morskie Oki is the largest Tatran lake (36 hectares).
To get to Morskie Oko takes a full day - you will travel by limousine or coach in the direction of Slovakia and then board a horse-drawn cart. The ride will take a little more than one hour, then you have to leave this vehicle and walk up a good, steep path for another half an hour before you eventually reach Morskie Oko. Before lunch at the mountain lake restaurant you can stroll around the beautiful valley or undertake another easy two-three hour hike. After four hours spent in this beautiful place it will be time to return to Zakopane the same way you arrived.
